Recipe for tight skin and pores!

Avocado, yoghurt and olive oil mask for tight skin and pores 🙂

Well hello dear readers,

Hope this message finds you well. What I’m about to share is my old recipe I’ve been using for the last few years, but I’ve actually forgotten about it recently. But then When I saw my pores acting I knew it was time to mask up with some fresh avocado and yoghurt.

It’s a no-brainer that winter makes your skin wither- ehhmm it rhymes too 😊– I’m such a poet I even forgot about it 😊 and to avoid dry and flaky skin we exfoliate hard. Don’t get me wrong exfoliating your skin is necessary but too much of it will lead to dryness, acne and larger pores as well. The larger the pores the more prone your skin is to getting acne. The reason being, you’re stripping out your natural skin oil thereby making it dry, flaky and disobedient. Not very nice ha!

So, watch out how many times you exfoliate. I do mine once a week and according to my skin, that is enough.

For the mask you’ll need:

avo mask 1

2 teaspoons of ripe avocado

1 teaspoon of yoghurt

1 teaspoon of olive oil

P.S Please don’t waste a whole avocado. You will not be needing that much. 

Mix all the ingredients and apply it to your face and neck as well for 15-30 minutes, then wash off and enjoy a beautiful, healthy and glowing tight skin. Make sure you use a warm towel to wipe it off and tone your skin as you normally would.

 Applying yogurt will make your skin free from dead skin and it will also tighten your pores. However, it can sting if you have cuts or wounds on your skin so be mindful about this. I remember my sister once complain cos’ her skin was dry and the yoghurt stung her skin. Bless my little munchkin. Muahh!

Avocado is there to moisturize your supposedly dry skin, reduces acne flare-ups and protects the skin against the sun as well.

I don’t need to tell you anything about olive oil- it’s just majestic and versatile. My favourite oil of all time. You can just put it anywhere.

You can use it on your skin to moisturize and exfoliate, you can put it on your hair and scalp to condition it and protect your ends, you can use it on your body as a moisturizer, you can put on your salad AND- wait for it for it!  wait for it! – some people actually drink it when they’re constipated- I know right!!!. I’ve not gone thus far yet but I’m tempted “cheeky smile”. I Just think olive oil is the gangster of the oils.

I mean what else do we want from this wonderful oil?  But make sure you get the extra virgin, unrefined cold pressed  oil. Trust me you’ll know the difference.

Today’s tip:  If you stayed out in the sun too long, apply avocado directly to sunburned skin to ease pain. This applies to those who are enjoying the sun and loving it but forget their skin is sunburned.

face mask for anti-ageing!

A lot of people ask me what I use on my face, so I have decided to share it with you. This is one of the recipes I use to make a face mask at home to help reduce wrinkles and keep the skin young and vibrant. This mask will also give you a fresh look, the caffeine in the coffee will wake up your skin. Raw cacao bean is one of the richest sources of antioxidants of any food on the planet. This i the reason why dark chocolate is good for you as it has more cacao in it. I also put it in my smoothies in the morning as it’s packed with endless health benefits. Now, let’s sit back and enjoy the mask. This will last you for about 4/5 applications.

The ingredients are mostly what we have at home so don’t fret.




  • 1 tablespoon of coffee
  • 1 tablespoon of cacao powder
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of rose water
  • a pinch of turmeric powder; and
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil/almond oil ( if you have both olive oil and almond oil, you can put 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of almond oil)


First, put the coffee with the rose water and mix them up until the coffee dissolves. Then put the rest of the ingredients together and mix them all up until you get a paste like this:


You don’t want it too runny as you will find it hard for it to stay on your face. You don’t want it too thick either as you’ll find it hard to apply to your skin. If you feel like its not the right texture yet add a drop of rose water.

Keep it for 30 min or more if you have time.

don’t forget to apply it on your neck as well.

don’t smile or laugh as you might crack your skin which is not what we want.

remove gently using a small towel or a piece of cloth using warm water.

Note: before applying the mask, wet your face as it will make it easier to apply the mask and the chances of all the goodness to get observed into your skin are higher.

You can get rose water from an Indian/African beauty shops or amazon if you prefer. You can also get cacao powder from the health shops but I get mine from amazon.

Note: the mask can last for days, the more its kept the better it gets. Don’t put it in the fridge. Make sure you keep the lid closed as it might get dry. But if it does get dry, just add a bit of olive oil/ a drop of rose water or even water is enough. You can use this mask twice a week.

Face Masks- for glowing skin!

Tight and glowing skin!

This is the quick mask I use to keep the skin nice and tight. After I use this mask I can see the result right away. The ingredients are all we have in the kitchen. It is affordable and organic. This might be something you’re looking for. Give it a go.

Note: don’t put too much turmeric as it might make your face yellow, unless of course that’s what you want.

mask- flour-ing

This is the recipe for it:

1: 1/2 a tablespoon of plain flour
2: 1 teaspoon of honey
3: a pinch of turmeric powder
4: 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil
5: 1 teaspoon of water


Mix it all up until you get a smooth paste. Make sure its not thick and neither too runny.


Keep it on for 30 min.

Do not smile or laugh as it will crack your skin if you do.
Don’t forget to also apply it on your neck.
Finally wash it gently with warm water and a small towel.

Note: You can use this twice a week but if you’re using one of the other masks, then once is just fine.
